Who: Hildy Abreu
What: I joined Pursuit a software engineering fellowship. While in Pursuit I enjoyed the concept of creation and learned core skills for engineering, But I noticed that I often gravitated to creating an intuitive UI/ UX experience for end-users. That was when I realized how much I love design.
When: Joined the tech industry in 2019
Why: Design allows me to create visually appealing material that not only convey emotions to end-users but, it also allows me to connect with them by producing content that they need to navigate efficiently and seamlessly. Making their day to day a little more pleasant to navigate.
Get to know me

I took a break from my life to be a Mami to these little faces you see here. I have learned so much throughout this motherhood journey. It showed me my dedication and patience. My ability to figure things out and agilely “fix” things. Mostly it showed me how important it is to listen to the needs of others and how effective the power of communication is. Somewhere along the way, I began to miss my true self. The line between being a single mother and having a life outside of the kids can get blurred. Finding my love for design has helped me find my individuality, I found myself again through design. Being successful in this career is the perfect way for me to lead by example. My little girl can see that moms can also have a career they love, that we do not have to choose. My boy can see that hard work and persistence pay off. The majority of my work was created during this pandemic. Instead of allowing the stress of a pandemic, the kids’ remote education, day-to-day responsibilities, working on projects and furthering my education in design to tear me down, I used it to fuel me. Despite it all, I found the time to design and create because that is my happy place. I am so proud to say that I am a mother, and now I am also proud to say that I am a UI/UX Designer!
